![]() Wednesday, January 31, 2007After much waiting, whining, worrying, and prodding... MY STRAPYA LUCKY BAG IS HERE!!! My mom contacted a friend yesterday who works at the post office and she helped us locate the package! ^_^ There are stuff that I absolutely love, and there are some things that weren't really my taste too... I was dissappointed that some items that I wished were included weren't in the bag, though... but that's randomly picked items for you! My mom was actually more excited about it than I was. xD I guess I got too jaded from waiting. Many thanks to my Uncle Joel and Tita Mae for sending me this (belated) Christmas present. Also to masters Tomo and Marimo for helping me out all the way. They were patient and accomodating to my random whinings. They're the best! どうもありがとう <-- I hope I got this right! Here be piccies! ![]() ![]() Tuesday, January 30, 2007Dude! Did I miss something or is there some sort of storm coming? Since yesterday the winds have been blowing like crazy here! Howling and everything! ![]() Monday, January 29, 2007By the way, I'm in charge of the preparation of invitations on Lolo & Lola's Golden Wedding anniversary. So far, I've come up with these designs: (click thumbnails, etc) ![]() Same size as a CD. You have to turn the front circle's "window" around so you can see different stuff written on the back circle. ![]() Bouquet-inspired. ![]() Flower. Details and more pics HERE. Whoa Me! I just finished THREE mangas last weekend! They're Tomei, Mermaid Saga, and Ludwig Kakumei. Also some manga oneshots (shorts), A Cat that loved a fish and If I Became a Beauty One Day. Tomei was pretty intense. It's the manga version of J-horror movies (and I mean dark hair with a mind of its own, crazy eyes, faces on the backs of people's heads). It's about Tomei, a beautiful girl who can control any guy to do her bidding. They can't seem to stop themselves from killing and cutting her into pieces either... she's kinda cursed. Anyway, the story is that she cannot die... her pieces tend to regenerate and come back to life... She transfers from place to place spreading her doom around like one very horrid, vain bitch. It's by Junji Ito so you know it's gonna be freaky. Mermaid Saga is about Yuta, a 500-year-old immortal. Legend says that if you ate a mermaid's flesh, you'll never die. But the thing is, only a few people can enjoy immortaly... others, after eating the flesh, either die from the poison (or the "transformation") or become horrible monsters (called "Lost Souls"). Anyway, Yuta was a fisherman who ate mermaid's flesh with his buddies and all of them died from the poison except him. He moved to another town, got married, but was miserable 'cause his wife got really old while he never aged a day and he saw her die of old age. So he set off to find a mermaid, thinking that if she could give immortality, then she could also have the power to take it away. So we see him in various adventures concerning people whose lives changed because of the effects in eating the flesh (or being "born" again with a mermaid's liver, or being buried with mermaid's ashes, etc etc etc) usually resulting to something miserable or morbid. Love it! Ludwig Kakumei is about a perverted, arrogant, and somewhat necropheliac prince that is ordered by his father, the king, to go travel to various kingdoms to look for a more... suitable bride. He meets different ladies from four fairytales, namely Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, and Bluebeard's wife. I don't want to write spoilers here so let's just say the prince will not be dealing with damsels in distress here. ;) ![]() Sunday, January 28, 2007I just finished Uzumaki. It's only 3 volumes long so it didn't take me a long time to read it. It's a story of a cursed town being drawn around the strange swirling of the spiral. The first two volumes are stories about involving main characters Kirie and Shuichi. Each chapter is a story about various townspeople that, in some strange circumstances, get "drawn" into the curse of the spiral. The third volume kinda ties all these stories together into one big mass of spirally goodness. Confusing? Yes, well, it is. LOL. But isn't that what looking into a spiral does to you? *grin* Anyway, this is a manga by Junji Ito, one of Japan's most popular and beloved horror manga artists. And yeah, his illustrations are really good (and by good I mean really disturbing and disgusting). Definitely NOT for those with a weak stomach. Even I had to wince at some scenes. But still thoroughly entertaining and thought-provoking. You'll never know... you might be drawn into the spiral yourself. Beware. ;) Here's a nice site for all your manga downloads. Needs log-in. LINK for Uzumaki. For a lighter yet still thought-provoking manga, LINK for Petshop of Horrors. Trust me on this one... you will LOVE Count D! Next stop: Ludwig Kakumei and Junji Ito's Tomie. ![]() Saturday, January 27, 2007I just finished watching the Goong DVD. It made me cry! I mean, sure, it took me THREE WEEKS to watch it (when most people do a marathon and finish it within a day), it was the best! The ending was pretty satisfying and touching and cute and aaaagh! It was perfect! I don't know about the manhwa though 'cause it's still ongoing... but I'm sure the ending will top the TV series! I totally love four characters in the story: 1. Chae Gyeong - or, well, the Chae-gyeong in the early and last parts of the series. She pretty much lost her bubbly, chibi self during the middle parts 'cause the palace life is choking her. Link to actress Yoon Eun Hye. 2. The Queen Mother (Shin's grandma) - 'cause she's just too cool for words! Link to the actress, Kim Hye-Ja. 3. The Queen (Shin's mom) - she's strict and so by-the-book... but she does have a heart. And she warmed up and sympathizes with Chae-gyeong in the end (she first opposed to her son's marriage to a commoner.) Unfortunately, no real website with lots of info about her. Just some little pics here and there. Hmph. 4. Princess Hyae-Myeong (Shin's sister) - she takes after grandma 'cause she rocks too! (And eventually became queen 'cause Shin gave up the throne!) and I think her hair looks so cool... wait... everything about her is so cool! Waaah! (here's a link to the actress, Lee Yoon Ji, who played this character) Lookie! her birthday's a day after mine! (Like it matters...) Her face reminds me of someone... I just can't figure out who... ugh. Some manhwa pics with their TV counterparts: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() *sigh sigh sigh* I'm too high right now. LMAO. I can't even think straight, let alone type! I mean, I felt like I accomplished something! Sure it's some Korean telenovela, but gimme a break! I could NEVER even stand most of those and I just saw 24 chapters of it! Hello!? Anyway, since messa done with the DVD, Imma let Suzette borrow this as promised. ^_^ Now it's time to continue my reading Petshop of Horrors and follow it with Uzumaki. ![]() Thursday, January 25, 2007I just got my hands on some Petshop of Horrors scanlation downloads. It's an oldie but goodie manga. ;) It's about this shop in chinatown that sells exotic and rare creatures, run by a mysterious (and sweet-toothed) Count D (who claims he sells love, dreams, and happiness to his patrons) People come into the shop looking for a pet that suit their rather peculiar tastes and the Count makes them sign a contract with instructions on how to care for these curious "pets". If the customer neglects to follow the instructions, the petshop is not liable for the usually gruesome and/or weird results that follow (sometimes teaching the customer or other a valuable lesson). It's sort of like Tales from the Crypt-ish style... where the stories are about people that get what they want and sometimes their wishes turn out for the worse. So far the stories I found most interesting were about a basilisk, a totetsu (a human-eating, giant goat-like creature with a human face that used to terrorize the hills of China), a black labrador dog, and a teddy bear. ;) ![]() Wednesday, January 24, 2007Ah well. To take my mind off my probably-long-gone package, after I walked Yahoo I went out to our front yard and took pictures (mom calls it "garden"... but it's more "gardeny" on the sides and "concrete-y" on the center). Anyway I had to let Yahoo in 'cause I can't leave him alone playing 'cause he might slip out of our gate. I was trying to be "artsy" for once.. I don't know if I achieved that, though. The results aren't at all impressive. But the shoot was aimed to still my postal frustrations than anything anyway. Here are my favorites of the series: ![]() More found HERE. ![]() Tuesday, January 23, 2007*sigh* I really hope my package from Strapya arrives in one piece... But living in this country would tell you there isn't much to expect from PhilPost 'cause we ALL know there are itchy hands out there... and it really SUCKS that my precious had to endure being felt up and down and everywhere and probably been poked about to death. For all I know it's on some asswipe's house right now. If it WOULD reach me, the bag's probably been torn apart and is taped to death to cover the holes. This country sucks carabao balls. ![]() Monday, January 22, 2007Yay! The package arrived! Good ol' LBC! --- wait, I meant Ma'am Cheryll's prize for winning the PSTT's Logo contest, not the Strapya package. I don't know what's keeping the thing at the postal office, but Imma let them slip just this one time. As long as they deliver the package THIS year, it's fine. Oooh! I got LOOOTS of stuff in the parcel too! Yahoo LOOOVES his new toys! ^_^ As usual, I took pictures! ![]() Yahoo knows the package is for him! ^_^ ![]() Wheesums! Goodies for my baby! ![]() Yellow ducky and pink piggy zanies and pin brush ![]() Black show lead, 2 bags of latex bands, 1 container of glitter bows, 1 steel comb ![]() Closer view of the cutie glitter bows! ^_^ ![]() Closer view of the pink piggy (the ducky's already with Yahoo :P) ![]() The pin brush ![]() The steel comb ![]() The black show lead, and latex bands. Thank you Ma'am Cheryll for the AWESOME prize! ^_^ Thank you LBC for the swift delivery! ![]() Sunday, January 21, 2007We went to Duka Bay Resort for the weekend. We just decided to go with Uncle Binks and family so it was a sort of spur-of-the-moment. We didn't have anything to do so yeah... I took bonamin, bought some chicheria, and was ready for the 1hour, 30minute ride to Medina, Mis. Or! Woot! As usual, I took pictures! Bummer that my batteries ran low, though. *sigh* But I did take some good pictures. I'm not too hot about the swimming part 'cause the water's all cold in places and the corals are dead set on making my feet hurt, but I managed to make the best of our mini-vacation. My favorite spot to take pics were this group of rocks by the beach that have water running from the pond back to the sea... I swear, it has the coolest, clearest water! The scenery is beautiful and I can't wait to go there again during the Arquisola reunion! Whee! Click on images to enlarge. For more Duka pics, click HERE. ![]() ![]() Friday, January 19, 2007Hmm... okay... Updates. Jan 5, 2007 My sister actually came here 'cause she wanted a break from her groupmate hos. She arrived today and I treated her to the spa. She had hair and foot spa plus pedicure while I also had hair spa and cellophane treatment. Check it: ![]() The straightness rocked my world Jan 9, 2007 Of course my sister had to go back to Cebu so we had to take her to Nasipit Port. Since my dad worked at PPA (Phil Ports Authority), I've made some projects for them and since we're in Nasipit, I took pics of the tarp I made for their lounge's Kiddie Corner (still under construction). This is really my biggest project to date. 2x3 meters y'all! ![]() The tarp at Nasipit port Jan 14, 2007 Auntie Lola's birthday (uhm.. she's Lolo's sister... so we call her Auntie Lola :P) We celebrated her birthday at her garden with some of her prayer pals! Foodies! Jan 15, 2007 Went to Ampayon with Lola, Mama, and Tita Mai to go see Father Bong who came here from America. Tita wants to invite him for Uncle Bink's birthday on the 18th. When I went home, I had a surprise! I recieved an LBC parcel from Cheryl Limso (from Fantasia Shih Tzu) for my participation in a logo-making contest for the forums (Phil Shih Tzu Talk)! It's a bag of tzu latex bands worth p600! Whee! TY Ma'am Cheryl! ![]() The parcel Here's the contest topic: January Contest Jan 16, 2007 (I'll skip the 15th since I blogged that day...duh :P) Joseph invited Suzette and I for dinner at Margie's to celebrate his NLE triumph. Yay! I had some Vietnamese spicy chicken thing (forgot the name). It was yummy! ^_^ TY Joseph! ![]() This is what I wore to Margie's. Stupid me for not bringing my camera there! *toink* I also made this invitation for someone's wedding (The theme is orange sunsets and butterflies): (Note: All images are property of MageWorks Graphic Design & Printing) ![]() ![]() ![]() January 18, 2007 Another surprise! I WON the logo contest at Phil Shih Tzu Talk! ^_^ To view my entry and the other entries, click HERE. It's also Uncle Bink's birthday! Whee! He set up some tables outside for his guests and stuff! Looots of nummies everywhere (natch). ![]() Pao sleeping while waiting for his dad to go inside (Uncle is outside with guests) ![]() Pao rarely sits still for photographs... so we're seizing the moment! ![]() Foil Wrap + Me + Ela = crazy! January 19, 2007 Boring day... ho-hum... But I did made Yahoo look like Chae-Gyeong with her sideways ponytail! ![]() Too bad he won't allow me to put hair sticks on his head. Silly pooh! By the way, I also am officially crazy over Goong! My iMac desktop and my w550i theme are ALL Goong! Ahihihihi! Yes, well... *shrugs* We have to persue our happiness, right? ;) ![]() This is my current desktop screenshot and here's a link to my phone's THEME. Ooooh! And I'd like to thank my cousin, Danna, for sending me the DVD of the complete series! WHEEE!!! ![]() Monday, January 15, 2007First and foremost, I'd like to congratulate my friend, Joseph, for successfully passing the NLE! Woot! Also to Suzette 'cause her brother passed it too! Whee! To everyone else who did good (my batch in high school), congrats pud! To those who didn't pass, ok ra na! What else? Yeah, sorry if I was missing in action for 5 days. The excuse is good, I promise! Hihihi! See in the last entry I mentioned me reading the Goong manhwa. Well, since I'm done reading all 12 chapters, I have to wait for the scanlation of the 13th. What's a scanlation? It's, well, a term for manga/manhwa scans fans share in the Internet, complete with english translations ( = scanlations. Get it? Heheh). I found these things pretty addictive too... Hmr... I guess it's 'cause of the story and the art... and I guess it also depends on the scanlation group you got the comics from... xD Well, as for the manhwa (korean comics), I've read these: Goong ![]() Bride of the Water God ![]() For Mangas (Japanese comics), I've read: BLOOD: The Last Vampire ![]() and currently reading: Lovely Complex (too cute!) ![]() ![]() Wednesday, January 10, 2007Well, no sense hiding more now. Since I've already confessed, might as well tell you guys what I'm up to. Heheh. I was looking around the net for downloadable episode videos but as usual, I had to Wiki the whole series to know what it's really about. I discovered it's based on a Manhwa (Korean comics) and I decided to see if I could download those too. I found a great forum that led me to a Photobucket account that have scanned pages of these comics (translated in english)! For anyone interested (that's you, Chi & Danna), here's the link: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y210/junji83/ I found the original version very interesting. The princess (sejabin -- you learn something new everday, neh? ;)) was, for one, more contemplative and serious (only a small degree, though) compared to the TV series counterpart. The prince (seja) was still the same as on TV though. :P Still arrogant and antipatiko. Of course, as the story progresses, we know he'll open his heart to his commoner bride and fall in love or something. Won't ruin anything here! No spoilers until I finish the comics myself (I guess I'll be done before the series on TV end! :P) Ohyah... since the ABS-CBN people think its audiences would be too stupid to memorize Korean names, they changed the following: Shin Chae-Kyeong(or Chae-Gyeong) is Janelle Lee Shin is Prince Gian Lee Yool (or Yul) is Prince Troy Min Hyo-Rin (or Ho-Rin) is Monique Here's from a page: ![]() Lots and lots of scenes from the TV series are copied straight out of the comics, so no worries there. I'm currently a happy, happy fangirl. ^_^ Squee squee! ![]() Tuesday, January 09, 2007 Okay. Little confession here. You guys know how I -HATED- Meteor Garden, right? And anything Meteor Garden-ish? Yes, well, uhm...I LOVE PRINCESS HOURS (a.k.a. Goong)! I don't know why... I just need to watch it every night! *sniffles* Mebbe 'cause I so LOVE Prince Troy and I wanna marry him --- GAAASP--- I didn't just say that, right? Nooooo.... Oh but he's so beautiful... *sniffles* and nummy and so deliciously complex... hrrrmm... But Kim Chiu just HAD to ruin it! PH was supposed to air at 10pm but Miss Precious here decided to take that spot and move everything an hour down! WAAAH! I'll miss my loverly Troy... nummy nummy prince baby. Ahihihihi! Okay, stop. Really. I sound like a giddy schoolgirl again. And worse, my affections are targeted to this anime-looking, seriously kinda metrosexual, kinda doll-ish pretty boy! But I don't care! I love him! WAAAH! *bursts into flame* =^.^= ![]() Monday, January 08, 2007What's wrong with the world? I mean, can't people just stop being idiots for just a minute and give others a break?! GEEZ! Ok... lemme catch my breath for a second... But seriously... My sister called us up at 4 in the morning crying her eyes out. The reason? She just woke up, thought about her termpaper, and how her asswipes of groupmates didn't help her out at all. It took us about a full hour to get her to stop crying and relax 'cause she's absolutely worried about her grades what with the deadline close and everything and nobody's working but her. What the hell is wrong with these people? I told her to tell on their ass and go solo with the termpaper. I'm sure the teacher would understand! I don't know how these kids sleep at night knowing they should be doing something that someone else is struggling to do! If I've the chance to get names, I'm going to give them a piece of my mind. They're all worthless pieces of shit. That's why I hate group projects. I always ask the instructor if I could do these stuff alone. As far as I know, the only way to do something right and fast is to do it myself. I'm no leader nor follower.. I do things by my own and that's the way I want it. 'Cause there are some people out there that don't really care about the stuff they're supposed to do and don't give a flying fuck if they drag innocent people with them. My sister can be so mean to me, but I wouldn't mind beheading these idiots for her. As far as I know she's working her ass off on her grades and I don't think she deserved to be treated like that. He groupmates need to be kicked in the shins for being major bitches. Although I'm kinda wondering why they're still breathing right now. I mean this is my sister we're talking about... she can kill cows with her mind, for crap's sake! Hmph. ![]() Sunday, January 07, 2007Chi is crazy! Ahahah! We've been talking since 10:30pm and it's now 2:30! xD Okay, well, seriously, we talked about the many guys (yes, many :P) that came our way. *sigh* As usual, we proceeded to how we pretty much get our hearts broken by these people and how we got over them all. At least I know I'm not alone. What is it with guys anyway? Why am I constantly complaining about how stupid they are... but somehow find myself praying for one to come along? Is it just my fear of being alone when I age and die or is it something deeper in me that I have yet to explain? Why would I ask for something that I despise and loathe? Do I need more pain or do I just need love? Yes, I pray for this someone. As much as I hate to admit it, I do. Every chance I get. I don't know what's keeping JC busy and not grant me this right person for me but each day without my answer is a little trickle of hope down from a bucket that's already half empty. I am envious of the patience Chi has. And her happy outlook that one day, someone right for her will sweep her off her feet. I don't have such perspective. Nor do I strive for one. Let's just say... to each her own. I don't know why I seem to want to destroy myself over these negative attitudes concerning love and relationships... I simple don't understand why I can't be loved. Maybe it's simply because when I DO love, I give it my all. I give so much and I know... I just know... in the farthest corner of my thoughts that this person doesn't love me as much as I do him. Not as passionate, not as intricate, not as complicated as the feelings I keep within me. I need a person that can reciprocate that same amount... if not close to it. It may seem selfish to anyone, but I just couldn't help but wonder how a person could continue to breathe knowing he doesn't give a hundred percent to someone he loves. It's complicated. Or I complicate things. I can't accept love in its simplicity. Because it never is simple. It's not a neat math problem and its corresponding solution. It has crevices and alleyways and turns here and there. It's... broad sensations and actions and words and thoughts! It's delight in delirium! It's bouts of madness and pain and passion! How in the world can I find someone who can share with me these views? If there is no such person... I might as well die. ![]() Saturday, January 06, 2007So... was napping... dreamt I was wearing a gown and people are eating chicken wings (of all things! Classy! Ahhahaha). xD And then Justine Lawas and Gertrude Curato (both former high school classmates) told me someone likes me (even made me read a text message in their phone that he wants them to make me go to this badminton game thing). And they told me who it was. And I know that someone. And it feels so weird when I woke up 'cause, well, I'm NOT that sort of girl that THAT kind of guy would like... 'cause I'm not like THAT girl he used to date. But, yes, dream. I wouldn't mind if it would be true and that the heavens are saying something, but nah. xD It's good I didn't die in that episode though. :P Note to Suzette (if you're reading this): you might think it's you-know-who since we met at that badminton court place... no, it's not. Totally different guy. ![]() Thursday, January 04, 2007Top 10 Best things of 2006 It's pretty easy to cite the bad stuff, but I want to exert a little more effort to actually think of the positive things that happened to me: 10. My gown and makeup at Chi's debut! LOVE it! - the gown was created by Tata Calo, inspired by Monique Lhuillier. p2,500 ONLY, including pouch and petticoat. Makeup by one of Lolong Trillo's posse (who I lovingly call J.Lo). You made me look so...human! Thank you! 9. Overcoming hesitations and started to go to the gym! (At least for a little while anyway) - yes, well, if it weren't for #8, I'dve continued my journey to body awesomeness... but yeah, that's life. :P 8. Working and leaving Harbour City Dimsum - Working there gave me experience and some friends. Leaving there gave me back my sanity and health. Peace! =^_^= 7. Going home to Butuan City - nothing like home, baby! 6. Being single (but it sucks and rocks at the same time) - as cited mercilessly in this blog. Enough! 5. Some people got owned by yours truly! - you know who you are, fuzzbrain! 4. My rockin' friends! - those that stood by me through thick and thin in this fickle, fickle world. Love you guys! Truly and madly. 3. The opening of my own business, MageWorks Graphic Design & Printing. - yayness! 2. The arrival of Yahoo. - I can't imagine what life was without you. 1. My family is healthy, happy, and Centrum-complete! - like I said, I don't pray for much, but I always pray that God will look after my family and relatives for me because I'd die without them. |
