I don't live for myself, because if I am truly alone I'd have been gone a long time ago. No, I live for others, not that they necessarily need me, but because if I am gone it would be another kind of pain I can inflict on them. However, it will be the very last damage I can do... so... can I go?

Hey guys! As promised I'm making some reviews on some products I hauled in a couple of days ago from various shops (mostly online). Aside from the usual makeup brands I've gotten over the years, of course, here are the most recent ones (and some staple faves) I'd like to feature (I suppose I can make a review of ALL the makeup and bath&body products I use, but that will be really boring.. so I'll just select a few for now).

Ok... Let's see...

MISSHA M VITA BB CREAM (20ml - p400 by bidding. Orig price is around p650)
I've only recently heard about BB Creams (short for Blemish Balm Creams)... like, last year or so... my sister actually told me about it (she bought one from Maybelline). Originally they're given to patients that recently have had something done on their faces and this cream's supposed to help heal and hide scars and clear up any imperfections. Actresses caught on with its effects and it basically became part of everyone's skin regimen. Koreans started the trend of the dewy, "no makeup" look, and they swear by this product to give them that effect (but most of them have good skin to begin with, considering their climate, genes, and the kind of food they eat).

So, on to the review. Used this three times already and I have to say I'm loving the effect. It's good for those normal days where you have to go outside for errands and you don't want to bother with makeup. It just helps even out the skin, make it look radiant and healthy. This is more like a tinted moisturizer than a foundation... it's light to put on (has a watery consistency) and dries on pretty fast. At first it might appear too dark on your face (I have a Mac NC30 skintone) but wait for 5-10 minutes and it just -magically- blend to your normal tone (!). SPF 20 sun protection is also a plus. I might want to try other brands also (there are sooo many Korean BB Creams in the market now), but so far Missha is working for me. :)

CYLEINA BLACK PEARL SOAP (45g - p65, 100g - p120)
Now, Cyleina isn't a new name for me. I've tried out their soaps once a few times in a span of three years or so and they never disappoint. Imagine my surprise when they asked me to design their Multiply site for them! Best part? As a thank you, they sent me a bagful of their organic soap line to try out. Needless to say, I've become a loyal fan. Not only are their soap organic and natural, I'm also supporting a 100% Pinoy brand! Aint it great?

Their bestseller is the Black Pearl cream soap, or BP in various women and teen forums. This little round soap has been receiving rave reviews from fellow Filipinas for its whitening and clarifying properties. And yes, it's true, that after your first bath, you'll see results. Nothing majorly drastic of course (nothing ever is that instant and will come out natural), but you'll definitely feel the softness and the "glow". It contains Arbutin, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Collagen Oil and Licorice... all the good stuff to make you look fair (and I mean like healthy-fair, not ashy/pale/nasty white). Can't help feel good during every bath too because the scent of mild grapefruit and mint is so refreshing and relaxing. Aaah... Planning to get their other organic soaps, especially the new Green Tea one since drinking tea's always been a staple in my daily routine... and the Apple Cinnamon has good reviews as well...

BARE NATURALS EYE SALVE (p200)

I was looking for a way to get rid of my baggy eyes and I found this via ebay (of course :P) It's from Bare Naturals, another Pinoy brand that sells mineral makeup and emu oil products. From that Emu Oil line comes this little tub of heaven, the Eye Salve. I initially have doubts with it since looking at its ingreduents (Emu Oil, Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil, Papain extract, Malunggay extract, Vit. E & C) it does sound a little bit... oily... for me... I mean how could that ever get absorbed? But lo! Because of Emu Oil's amazing penetrating effect, it drags down all the good properties of the other ingredients all the way into your skin! Of course, no amazing drastic effects, but I definitely feel like I look less tired in the morning than before (this is now part of my nightly ritual). My peepers feel moisturized and refreshed, and it might be just me, but together with a wee bit of petroleum jelly, my eyelashes have grown thicker! And I don't know where I got it from, it was just an idea to try dapping a bit of the salve on to some insect bites and the itchiness went away and the bite is less red than before! This product's a keeper! Planning to sample some of their other Emu products... I bought a 30ml pure Emu Oil from them a year ago, it already ran out... used it as a makeup primer and to ease mosquito-bite itchiness.

E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face) MINERAL EYESHADOW PRIMER (p150)
I'm one of those girls that have oily lids. You know, when you put on your eyeshadow, looks ok when you go outside, and when you're home for lunch the color's all bunched up in creases? Fug, right?

So I decided to go try an eyeshadow primer. I wanted to get the Urban Decay Primer Potion, but it's too expensive for me (it's around p1000). I looked up some other cheaper alternatives and I found out about ELF's primer, which costs only p150 (!!!). Some youtube reviews comparing Urban Decay and ELF state they have about the same effect (well, UD has a bit more staying power) and I decided I'll get the cheaper one since I won't be wearing makeup all day anyway (plus I'm only trying it out... no point buying something expensive that might not work for me after all). I actually needed extra oomph in my eyeshadow color for my Uncle's Silver wedding anniversary because I absolutely refused to have someone draw on my face for a thousand bucks... I did my own makeup and this little tube of primer performed its job well! The even lasted for about 8 hours and my eyeshadow never creased and the color is still there! Happiness!

Pics of my "masterpiece" here and here. Yes... fake lashes and contacts and everything... just to make up for any makeup mistakes... but I think I did well. Credits to those glam girls at YouTube for their awesome makeup tuts!

SOPHIE MARTIN MAGIC PINK CREAM (p70)
I got this one out of curiosity. I thought it was sort of gimmicky (Why make it white then turn pink on your skin later? Why not just make it pink in the first place?) But you know me... ;) And it's p70! I bought one for me and my cousin Chi.
Actually, this is a good product. You might overlook it for the price, but the stuff stays on all day! Even after you wash your face, you can still make out a faint pink tint and it just makes your face look healthier. I likey! Wish I bought a dozen. LOL

Waiting for these at the mail:
Lioele Blooming Pop Tint (Cherry)
Etude House Gel Eyeliner (Black)

-=-=-=-=- HERE BE HBC PRODUCTS -=-=-=-

Since HBC has opened in our local "mall", I've always make it a point to visit their shop. It's just a wonderland of stuff, I guess, and their products are hot topics on forums because they're A. effective, B. affordable, and C. Pinoy-made. Because they're not that pricey (plus they constantly have these incredible sales with prices close to giving stuff away :P), you can't resist but give their stuff a try. These are my faves:

HBC BODY RECIPE Goat's Milk Body Butter
Staple in my nightly regimen for years now... it smells terrific, it's about p100 for a 150g tub, and moisturizes and relaxes me, ready for bed after a warm bath.

HORTALEZA M.D. Skingent #2
I just apply this to an occassional pimple... poof! Neutralized and less red (or completely dry!) the next day. Good stuff.

HORTALEZA M.D. Glutathione Toner
Newbie in this one... so far, so good. No breakouts (but thankfully I'm not a breakout kind of girl, even though I am oily at spots like my T-zone and chin). I'm not sure if I can credit it for making my skin fair since I've only been using it for 3 days, but will make another review later on (wait, so why is this a fave then?! Nevermind...)

ALLUE Shimmer Blush
Well, this is my sister's, officially, but sometimes I sneak in to use it here and there... Allue is a pre-teen makeup line, so it's extra gentle on skin and their fun colors are really tempting to collect. Heheh. Maybe will try one of those one of these days...

Visit their site here (to see pics too since I got lazy to post 'em here:P): http://www.hbc.com.ph/

Will post my latest haul from ebay this weekend. Reviews ahoy! Stay tuned. :)

Wow, hi again... might as well trash this blog eh? Like I'm ever going to update anything these days... *tempted to make big sigh, but won't...*

So many things to talk about, many to unravel and think about, but these days I guess I'm too busy or in zombie-mode to write it here... However I -am- going to let (not force) myself get a few things off my chest, mostly out of fear that I'll be the next local crazy bitch walking around our park... (last crazy bitch died a few years ago... Sharon was her name... I heard she was raped and killed... sad :(... she was part of my BXU gradeschool memories... ) Anyhoo...

Topic Uno: Work
Well, did I tell you that my sis and I worked in SG for a while? 2 and half months, methinks... was supposed to be their interior designer but that didn't work out well... I suppose I'm not really into construction and designing rooms and the emotional torment of trying to understand AutoCAD... and, well, honestly, I'm not built to work within so small a space with my sister, 'cause everyday is drama and she knows just where to push my buttons (as she is evil and therefore must be avoided at all cost for the sake of my sensitive and already-weak psyche).

Now I'm back to working online with MageWorks... and I can't believe that I miss it so much, even though the past few years it has bought me so much unnecessary mise--- no, not misery... (Gosh I wanna say drama but it's already overused...) er... something opposite pure bliss.

I am however very thankful for SG for the experience. Construction and stuff is actually interesting... but I guess it's not my scene... I'm not very good with floor tiles and measurements and meters, etc... it's an alien language for me...

Topic Dos: Personal Life
Part 1: Everyday Things

Well, as usual, nothing much happened in the last few months... Some highlights would be Mike, Therese, and Jacob's vacation here in the Philippines... fun stuff. Actually got to visit Cebu with them for a week (which was SHEER JOY)... God I miss Cebu... I can't believe I left it in the first place...

The downside was that after the trip and after my cousins left, there's like a whole sack of lonely just hitting you in the head and knock you out of breath... Missing people is the sads... And yeah, craving for more Cebu stuffage... which I'm trying to hold back right now or else I'll lose it and, again, local crazy bitch...

Still on about tea... I think that's a constant now... trends came and went like the darned expensive Del Monte Fit n' Right juice drinks and the more expensive Japanese aloe vera drinks I get at the imported section in the "mall"... but tea... there will always be tea, thank God.

Part 2: Love Life

Ahm, nothing to talk about.

Part 3: Home Life

Oh God... home... Beginning to hate it... there's something about home that's suffocating me... and people are so grumpy (*ahem* I add to the collective grumpyness, unfortunately), my dogs are getting unruly and have made it a point to make our living room their poopy place, and everything has either stopped working, smelling odd, un-refilled, about to break, or broken...

Don't get me wrong... home is wonderful and safe... but I feel like I gotta get away or it's too late...
I feel like my personality, or whatever it was that is ME, is slipping away... I am zombie-ing out... a shell of my former self. Whatever happened to that chick who was fearless to walk the streets at night in Cebu just to go see a movie? What happened to wanting and getting it with gusto?

Hmm... need a game plan. Need to get my nerve on..

Phew I'm back... apologies for not posting anything new for a couple of months... like I said before, I'm trying to post only the good stuff, and nothing's been positive enough to be blogworthy these days... I feel like shit all the time, excuse my french.

Will post more positive stuff soon.

I have a nice Easter memory.

When I was a kid, we used to pass by a church and when nearing Easter, little girls would be in angel costumes on their way to practice. I told my mom I'd like to be one. So one day, she made me my very first (and only) pair of wings. Just a folder and lots of curled strips of paper glued on for feathers.

I distinctly remember how excited I was to wear it. When it was done and I put it on, I felt like I was the most beautiful creature in the world. Thanks Mommy! :'-)

Happy Easter everyone!

Gomen, gomen! I know I haven't blogged for a while now. Not that nothing good has happened, in fact a lot of good stuff has happened since I've decided on
looking for them in my everyday, but I suppose I haven't been too dedicated to relate them here...

This weekend we went to CDO coz my mom has a Julies Bakeshop seminar to attend. We left at around 4:30am so we can arrive at 8:00-ish so she won't be late. She spent the whole day there to my dad and I had some good bonding time. Heheh. Unfortunately my sister didn't come with us coz she had some school stuff to attend to.

Anyway after we dropped off my mom, dad and I went to SM to look for some nice graduation dresses and shoes for my sis, and for me to get my Tony & Jackey K-hair cut. ;-) What do you think?

We transferred to Lim Ket Kai to find more dresses and shoes for my sis (not much variety in SM) and waited to meet up with my mom. At 7pm we went to have dinner with my uncle and aunt and cousins.

At around 8, went for a night out with Danna and Nikki. Methinks I'll post with more details soonest. I have to wake up early tomorrow coz I have to get my hair colored for summer. Fun!

Hello World! I celebrated my 25th birthday last March 14th. It was AWESOME!!!
I was greeted with a dozen lovely roses from my mom and dad (and given to me by Dan Paolo, no less! The kids are sleeping over)! We went to church at 11am, went home for lunch, and spent the afternoon getting ready for my birthday dinner...

Details? Hmm...
Well, it was just a little get-together with my relatives. I also invited Suzette and Alrex. The awesome birthday cake on the left was made by the Faeldos' Something Special. And my food was also from the Faeldos' (Willy's Grill... we had baby back ribs, java rice, baked spaghetti, and taco salad) and VJ's (crunchy kangkong and fish fillet in lemon sauce).... YUMMMM! Chichi also made some yummy mini-cakes!

Around 10-ish, Suzette and Alrex took me out for drinks at Woodstock... it was newly renovated and I think it looked -way- better than the old rickety place they used to have... very much improved. Suzette had the DJ greet me for my birthday, and after drinks we drived around the city for a while. We're planning on meeting up again tomorrow (the 17th) for a movie and dinner.

I've had some good birthday parties before, but this one's the best so far! I'm quite lucky to have such a loving family and caring friends. I can't thank God enough for these blessings! What more can I ask for?  *BIG SMILE* Thanks again, guys!

P.S.
Uber thanks also to those who greeted me via phone calls, text messages, facebook, and twitter. You guys made my day extra extra spesh! Aaaand I guess thanks for Manny Pacquiao for winning against Clottey too! It really was, overall, an awesome day!

Just a quick entry: biopsy results arrived and as expected, the mass taken out on my right ear is non-malignant. Praise God!

And I thought my ear operation was exciting (it is healing nicely, by the way), but guess what happened today!

My sister and I passed the Civil Service Exam!
(We took the exam last November 15, 2009)

Link below (The official CVC Site's got too much traffic, it won't load)
 http://www.coolbuster.net/2010/01/cs-exam-results-november-2009-caraga.html

I didn't really tell anyone I was taking the exam, I thought that if I tell people they'd ask me about the results and I don't like explaining that I didn't pass or anything :P But, as it turns out, we BOTH passed and we've told the world already! Heheh!

I'm quite surprised, really... actually I've already forgotten about it and I wasn't expecting much. If one of us would pass it should be my sister since she might plan to work on a government office or something... and I never took it seriously... I registered on a whim to test myself (I was bored) and to accompany my sister during the exam (since she gets stressed a lot... but turns out we are in separate rooms anyway)
We didn't even prepare for it... not studying and stuff (she's too busy with schoolwork and I'm too busy not being busy :P)... stored knowledge mayhaps?

My gosh life really hits you with great surprises, huh?
I wonder what it has in store for me next week? Exciting!

Thanks so much Lord for helping both of us pass!

Oh, and reading Jane Austen's Emma now. :)
