Okay, so what I'd most want to buy in HK would be this beauty:

Perfect, right? Look at those eyes!
Anyway, there's actually a seller here in the Philippines who has one available and never removed from box... but the price is p6000 and I'll try to see if buying one in HK would be cheaper... though it would be too sad if I didn't buy one there and go home to find that the seller from here has sold it (ku ku ku)

But we'll see. :) I can always order along with the others if they're organizing a preorder. I've been looking at the new dolls since June last year and they haven't really grabbed my attention as much as Neo Noir... I thought I'd stop buying a goth-themed Pullip since I already have my Cornice (Margaux), but I just have to have her! *sniffles* (and hey, I did promise to get just 2 per year... and I might never get this chance again since I only get to buy the dolls when I or someone's abroad! It's just way cheaper to get it from a brick and mortar shop than online with shipping and all...)

Here's keeping my fingers crossed that I will get her in HK.

Oh dear... and I was thinking of getting my very first Blythe doll there too... *sigh*

Ashletina

Pretty, huh? *sigh*
On my wishlist for Blythes (in order): Ashletina, Friendly Freckles, Natasha Moore.

I'm praying (and praying HARD!) that I can be able to afford 1 Blythe and 1 Pullip (Neo Noir)... I'd hate to have to give up one to get the other... *sniffles* but if I HAVE to... I'd probably get a Blythe first since I already have 5 dolls from Jun Planning... Awh my heart aches! T_T

Good week... OM.

Monday, March 16, 2009

Hello all! Many thanks for greeting me last Saturday. I really appreciate it. :)

Pics here: http://diankristine.multiply.com/photos/album/102

My birthday party was a simple get-together with my family and relatives and I'm super happy with the arrangements (I kinda don't like a lot of people anyway and I would only invite Suzette but she's not around and it would be weird to invite her boyfriend and Eubel so only my relatives this time...) :P

Anyway, I had my super favorite MOLO and extra cheesy spaghetti... and Nangka 1 & 2 got me a whole lechon (A WHOLE LECHON!!!!)... super happy eating!

Haha! I guess I'll be working out extra hard come Monday! ;)

Being surrounded by my beautiful family and relatives really made my special day even more special. I've had birthdays before that none are present (college days, I have a few friends over lang and maybe Kuya and Kakarl), but it always feels like there's something missing. I guess I'm happiest when my entire bloodline is present. (Of course my friends make for very nice icing too!) :P

All in all, I had a super, super happy birthday. Thanks everyone!

It's 12:01 and it's officially my birthday. :)

As a present for everyone, here is a touching ad from Coca Cola.

Enjoy.

Monday, March 09, 2009

Today I didn't really want to go out, I didn't want to go to church (but that happens often), and I didn't want to talk to anybody. I'm just too tired.

Sunday, March 08, 2009

Awr I'm so tired... it's Saturday and I'm still working. T_T
I wonder if I'd be so tired and not enjoy my birthday... or my HK vacation. *sigh*
I didn't even get to go to Cagayan de Oro with the rest of my family (they went yesterday night and returned tonight)

I wish I don't have to work and deal with bogus people...

Anyway whenever I'm upset about clients I always look around the Net for advise on how to deal with them. Or go to forums to vent out...

Here's a cartoon that's spot on:
http://www.skydeckcartoons.com/brandcamp/061113.critic.jpg

I currently have The Micro-manager with a mix of the Crammer and a spot hint of The Wannabe. Ugh.

20 HORRIBLE HABITS OF CLIENTS

They're a husband and wife team, where hubby is the one who communicates with me for their shop's site. They had a lot of elements ordered, so I gave them the entire week just for their site... quite generous considering I normally cram in 2 projects per week. Now, they reserved for a March schedule middle of February, and I assumed that for the rest of Feb they are gathering materials to use on the site (information, pictures, etc.) but it turns out they haven't done anything and only started collecting and composing stuff when I reminded them of our schedule (I always contact the client a day or two before the sched in case they forgot or in case they think I forgot :P) Aaaand so, out of 7 content images to be designed, I get one every day.

The first 3 days, my initial design for the entire site's look was fine (said hubby), it was as he asked: clean, sophisticated, a slight touch of girly. We proceeded in the content images (an image comprised of text and pictures placed in a page) without problem. THEN wife emails me (they have separate accounts) and says she wants something more glamourous... so I did... and re-edited the current body AND the content images that were completed and supervised by hubby (because of course the content images must complement the site's body, no?)

THEN hubby emails me again, telling me he doesn't like new yellow background and wants it back to original dark gray... and this is already on THURSDAY. So I replied that before i make any new edits, he should consult with wife because she said to make BG yellow. See? This is why I don't do designs by committee... I just HATE it when two, three, whole groups of people voice out completely different ideas... why can't they just talk it over and assign one person to deal with the entire thing? Geez...

So anyway, the whole background brouhaha is settled, now they want the logo changed... take note, it's already FRIDAY at that time... to think the current logo was sitting on that site since Monday and no one's made a comment about it 'til the end of the frikkin week. WOW.

So of course, I change the logo. I'm here now, Saturday night (or early Sunday morning diay, damnit) with a new logo design YET to be approved by them (they're now sleeping, mayhaps?) while I'm left to wait for them.... I have to get the damned logo approved and change other elements in the site where the logo appears (that means it's in, oh, around 5 content images?)

And I'm guessing they'll cram the hell out of everything by tomorrow because I made it absolutely clear that I only have one ENTIRE week (extending until Sunday where everyone else is NOT WORKING) to complete their project.

You know how many times I want to just screw it and give them back their payment?! 'Cause I'm thinking, 3 grand isn't enough for this kind of aggravation! It's not worth it!

But then of course, I still want to maintain my good reputation as a graphic artist and I know these people can put in a good word for me to their friends, etchos. And, well, I've never stopped in the middle of work due to a bogus client. *sigh* (Plus the couple aren't really bogus or rude or whatever... they're just... really unorganized and don't know how to properly articulate what they want)...

So I'm stuck with these two.
Anyway they're helping me fly to HK with their moolah, so...

Speaking of.. whatever happened to the moolah-falling-from-the-sky thing?
I need a break, damnit! CAN'T I AT LEAST HAVE MONEY-RAIN?!?!?
T_T

Dude... just a thought... I hope I'd get the change to grab some exotic food...hmm... like, you know, fried crickets or something weird like that... xD I dunno, I'm willing to overlook what bloggers point out about HKers being rude (bah, I've been to Singapore, some of the locals are rude too), I'm just really there for the place (shopping, food, more shopping).... fried crickets... snake blood/bile (ok, not that)... hmm... of course, I want to experience authentic dim sum since I've always loved Chinese food here.... I hope eating won't be too expensive... But I'm not really expecting to dine in a high-class resto...anyway I won't feel too comfortable there... the thought of a fine little food stall selling hot yummies is more appealing to me!

AHA! This is my go-to place for our Hong Kong trip (aside from Disneyland, of course :P)

CTMA CENTRE, MONG KOK

It's supposed to be the Otaku Mecca of HK, a must-visit if you're a big anime fan (or toys and hobby items from Japan)...

I've already pinpointed 3 shops that sell Pullips... and even shops that sell Gothic Lolita items! Holy Cow!!!

Oh I hope I hope I hope I get to visit CTMA Centre! T_T
I can imagine just O.O on all the toy shop displays.... I hope I can keep my wits about during my visit!

And I need to save for at least one doll... the rest I'll splurge on clothes and food... or another doll. Oh my... o.o I wish it can rain money.

It MUST!
IT MUST!!!!
MAY THE HEAVENS OPEN UP AND RAIN MOOLAH!!!!!
*readies her bucket*

Wednesday, March 04, 2009

Wow... we're totally going to Hong Kong this May! We've got our tickets and already booked a hotel and tours and all! Woo-hoo! (Dude, I'm totally feeling the pain in my wallet... all those hard-earned cash... *sniffles* but it'll be worth it, I'm sure!)

There'll be 17 of us, methinks (YES, 17!).. let's see...

Me, Mom, Dad, Dian, Lolo, Lola, Uncle Binks, Tita Maimai, Ela, Paolo, Uncle Ray, Auntie Charisse, Desi, Deedee, Renzo, Kuya Jason, Papay!!!

It'll be so fun!

Our flight's on May 1st (I think... ahm.. will ask mom), and we're staying for 4 days, 3 nights. =D
Now to save for shopping money!

Halu! We saw The Reader today at Uncle Ching's house. I liked it. :) Or, well, the smiley face isn't really proper is it since it refers to the Holocaust and suicide... but the movie was a sad love story... 'cause Michael really did love Hanna. *sigh* The sex scenes and the age difference didn't bother me though but we had to fast forward on some scenes 'cause Ela and Pao were around. Heheh. Overall it was... realistic... and gritty. Something you'd believe happened to actual people. The ending wasn't a happy one... nor was it entirely sad... it was... poignant... that something that happened so long ago at such a short time can impact you your whole life.. One can't fully understand why Hanna decided to hide her illiteracy and just take the blame for killing 300 people during the war-crime trial, but I suppose that's part of her mystery... and how you come to accept her decisions that eventually lead her to prison. It just makes you really think about morality and the different frailties that unravel when you look closely at a person's heart. How mistakes can either lead you to misery or eventually redemption, and how loving is different from one person to the next.

And of course, it gives somewhat of a human face to what most dismiss as a monster. Was she remorseful? Did she hang herself because she felt she should end her life for taking others? If so why hasn't she done that years ago?

In my opinion, Hanna hanged herself when she realized Michael doesn't love her anymore. Or not as much as before. When they met a week before she's to be released, he asked her if she had time to think about the past and what she had learned. When she asked if he referred to their relationship, Micheal corrected her and asked if she learned something about what she has done to all those people. That's when I saw (for me anyway) the light in her eyes went out. She turned cold and just replied that all she learned was to read. When Michael told her what she'll have when she gets out, it didn't exactly say they will be together, even a mention of friendship, so she was heartbroken. He had given her the gift of literacy and she has survived prison this long to see him again... I suppose that after knowing that things will never be the same, that he doesn't love her anymore (or maybe he still does, but not as much as before), she decided there's nothing else to live for.

What do you think?

And yes, Kate definitely deserved the award for Best Actress. :) Her acting was so... bittersweet... that even though this character has done heinous acts, you still feel for her.
